Here We Go A Caroling

We have had a family tradition of caroling at Christmas time for as long as I can remember. We still get together with the same basic families every year (Newells, Lakes, Slaughters and others who have come and gone), and all of us kids bring our families now (when we are home for Christmas). We have evolved over the years. We used to ride in the back of a truck all over in the freezing cold and then go home to eat, thaw and visit. (I have been looking for an old picture of this, but sadly my pictures are not organized enough to lay my hands on one) Now we drive our cars to a retirement home, a couple of houses and then go home to eat and visit.

We always gather at Newell's house to start with

Mom and Dad were sporting Christmas themed Disney hats this year.

Dad's hat was Pluto and it lit up. Boy has he come a long way!
The rest of us wore Santa hats.
We usually take an annual family group shot in Newell's front yard, but this year we took it at the retirement home because some members of our family met us there.
I am in charge of doing the family calendar each year, so I like to take pictures when we are out caroling too.

Afterwards we gathered at the Lake's house for treats and visiting.

The kids love squirting the whipped cream in the hot chocolate. Yummy!

We are grateful to these three ladies for starting this fun tradition. We hope it never ends!
